I. Function overview
Once comments are resolved or text that contains comments is deleted, they'll be be removed from the document and archived in comment history, so you can be referred to at any time.
Comment history is where you can view the commented section, commenter, comment content, and the reason why the comment was archived. You can also restore select comments from the comment history list.
Note: This feature is available in both Docs and Sheets.
- •Open the history comments list: Hover your cursor over the ... button in the top right corner of a document, and click Comment history to open the list.
- •View the comment history list: In this list, you can find out why the comment was archived: Original article has been deleted, or Someone has resolved this comment.

- •Restore a comment: In the comment history list, find the desired comment and click Restore to display this comment again in the document.
What kinds of comments go to comment history?
Resolved comments and deleted text which contains comments in a document.
Who can view comment history?
Document owners and collaborators (users who have permission to read or edit).
Who can resolve, edit, or delete comments?
Document owners and collaborators can resolve comments. Only the commenter can edit and delete their own comments.
What if I can't find previous comments in the comment history list?
This may be because the comment has been deleted by the commenter. In this case, you can't view or restore the comment.
Will the comments deleted by the commentor shown in the history comments list?
No. Deleted comments won't be viewed or restored. Please keep this in mind when deleting comments.
