This article describes how to use the language interpretation feature in video meetings to meet the needs of multilingual meetings.

- •Video meetings now support language interpretation! The host can assign interpreters and create language channels to facilitate multilingual meetings.
Note: The minimum version required is V3.40 on desktop and mobile.
Instructions
Enable and manage interpretation as the host
Desktop
- 1.The host of the meeting can click on their profile photo to go to Settings. From the left navigation panel, click Video Meetings and select Enable language interpretation.
- 2.After the meeting starts, the Interpretation button will appear on the control bar.
- 3.Click Interpretation > Add interpreter to designate any participant (including the host) as an interpreter. Select the languages that the interpreter will be working with, and click Start interpretation. Currently, the languages available include: Chinese, English, Japanese, Spanish, Bengali, Hindi, Arabic, Russian, Korean, German, and French.
- 4.The host can click Interpretation > Manage interpretation to add interpreters, edit interpreter information, or stop the interpretation session.
Note: After the host clicks Stop, the interpretation button will only be visible to the host. Other participants will no longer see it on their control bar.
Mobile
- 1.The host of the meeting can tap their profile photo to go to Settings. Tap Video Meetings and select Enable language interpretation.
- 2.After the meeting starts, swipe up on the control bar to see the Interpretation button.
- 3.Tap Interpretation > Add interpreter to designate any participant (including the host) as an interpreter. Select the languages that the interpreter will be working with, and tap Start interpretation. Currently, the languages available include: Chinese, English, Japanese, Spanish, Bengali, Hindi, Arabic, Russian, Korean, German, and French.
- 4.The host can tap Interpretation > Manage interpretation to add interpreters, edit interpreter information, or stop the interpretation session.
Note: After the host taps Stop, the interpretation button will only be visible to the host. Other participants will no longer see it on their control bar.
Interpret as an interpreter
- 1.After the host assigns interpreters for the meeting, each interpreter will see a confirmation dialog informing them that they've been assigned as an interpreter.
- 2.After the interpreter clicks Confirm, they'll be able to see the language channels for their working languages on the interface. Interpreters can switch between them to speak into different channels.
- 3.By default, interpreters hear the original audio. They can also select other channels to listen to if needed.
Listen to the interpretation as a participant
- 1.After the host starts the interpretation session, participants will see the interpretation button on the control bar.
- 2.During the interpretation session, participants can select any channel to listen to according to their needs.
FAQ
Q: How many interpreters can I add?
A: You can add up to 10 interpreters per meeting.
Q: Can interpretation be used during a livestreamed meeting?
A: Participants in the meeting can use the feature normally. However, livestream viewers are currently unable to hear the interpretation.
Q: What will I hear after I select a channel?
A: You will hear the translated version of what's being said in the meeting, as well as the original audio at a lower volume. If the interpreter doesn't speak for more than 6 seconds, you'll begin to hear the original audio at a normal volume over the next 2 seconds.
Q: How do I know who the interpreter is in a meeting?
A: You can go to the list of participants and look for people with language labels next to their names. Each label signifies the language that the interpreter is currently translating into.
Q: If an interpreter accidentally leaves the meeting and then rejoins the meeting, will they still be designated as an interpreter?
A: No, the host will need to add them as an interpreter again.
